Syllable intelligibility for temporally filtered LPC cepstral trajectories.

چکیده
The intelligibility of syllables whose cepstral trajectories were temporally filtered was measured. The speech signals were transformed to their LPC cepstral coefficients, and these coefficients were passed through different filters. These filtered trajectories were recombined with the residuals and the speech signal reconstructed. The intelligibility of the reconstructed speech segments was then measured in two perceptual experiments for Japanese syllables. The effect of various low-pass, high-pass, and bandpass filtering is reported, and the results summarized using a theoretical approach based on the independence of the contributions in different modulation bands. The overall results suggest that speech intelligibility is not severely impaired as long as the filtered spectral components have a rate of change between 1 and 16 Hz.

متن کاملIntelligibility of speech with filtered time trajectories of spectral envelopes
The effect of filtering the time trajectories of spectral envelopes on speech intelligibility was investigated. Since LPC cepstrum forms the basis of many automatic speech recognition systems, we filtered time trajectories of LPC cepstrum of speech sounds, and the modified speech was reconstructed after the filtering. For processing, we applied low-pass, high-pass and band-pass filters. The res...
متن کاملStuttered Isolated Spoken Marathi Speech Recognition by using MFCC and LPC
Stuttering is a speech disorder in which the person who stutters is unable to produce sounds, syllables, words or phrases as well as involuntary silent pauses or blocks. This paper presents the stuttered speech recognition system for Marathi Regional Language We collect the stuttered speech samples i.e. zero to nine spoken in Marathi language from Marathwada region. We also calculate the speech...
متن کاملRelation of Automatically Extracted Formant Trajectories with Intelligibility Loss and Speaking Rate Decline in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Effective monitoring of bulbar disease progression in persons with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) requires rapid, objective, automatic assessment of speech loss. The purpose of this work was to identify acoustic features that aid in predicting intelligibility loss and speaking rate decline in individuals with ALS. Features were derived from statistics of the first (F1) and second (F2) form...

Background & Aim: When inner ear is disturbed, both hearing sensitivity and selective property decrease. Early rehabilitation for proper progression of speech and language appropriate to age is mandatory. Several studies were performed to compare factors that affect the results of cochlear implantations to select the best candidates on the basis of different criteria. This study was underta...
